VijayWrites #259
Welcome to VijayWrites, where you’ll find inspiration, tips, and ideas to help you write better, master the art of copywriting, and make a career out of your words.
Most writers are stuck in the ₹2/word trap.
Meanwhile, Alex Hormozi sells the same raw material (words, ideas, content)… but he charges a premium, commands attention, and builds empires.
Why? Because he never sells writing.
He sells business outcomes.
This week, I’m breaking down how writers can apply Hormozi’s playbook to escape low rates, attract clients, and build real leverage.
Each post is practical, example-packed, and ends with a simple action you can take that same week.
Let’s start with Day 1
Post 1: Stop Selling Words, Start Selling Results
Most writers sell words. Hormozi sells results.
That’s why he commands premium prices while most writers get haggled down to ₹2 per word.
The Pricing Trap That Keeps Writers Poor
What writers say: “1,000-word blog post for ₹3,000.”
What clients hear: “Commodity. Cheaper on Upwork.”
When you sell words, you invite price comparisons. And if everyone charges ₹1.50 per word, your ₹2 looks expensive.
How Hormozi Would Reframe This
Hormozi doesn’t mention word count. He sells outcomes.
Example: “Lead-generating blog post that brings 10+ qualified inquiries monthly. Investment: ₹5,000.”
Why it works:
No mention of word count
Focus on business outcome
Clear, measurable result
Positioned as an “investment,” not a “cost”
Show the Cost of Bad Content
Here’s the secret: don’t just pitch your service. Quantify what bad content is costing them.
Example:
“Your site gets 1,000 visitors/month. At 2% conversion, you get 20 leads. Average client value = ₹50,000. Poor content is costing you ₹10 lakh/year.
My blog strategy improves conversion to 5–8%. Investment: ₹25,000 for a 3-month plan.”
₹25K to recover ₹10 lakh? That’s a steal.
Your Implementation Plan
This week, rewrite one service description:
Identify the business outcome
Remove word count/time
Add a clear result
Calculate cost of bad content
Present your service as the solution
Before: “₹3,000 for 1,000-word case study”
After: “Customer success story that generates 5+ new inquiries monthly. Investment: ₹8,000.”
When you shift from selling words to selling results:
Clients stop haggling
You justify premium rates
You attract better clients
Tomorrow: I’ll show you why calling yourself a “content writer” is the biggest reason you’re underpaid.
