VijayWrites #156
Welcome to VijayWrites—where you’ll find inspiration, tips, and ideas to help you write better, master the art of copywriting, and make a career out of your words.
You’re not short on ideas.
You’re just saying them the same way everyone else is.
Because let’s be real—most of the writing advice we share isn’t new.
It’s timeless.
Which means… it’s also overused.
“Be consistent.”
“Charge your worth.”
“Tell better stories.”
You’ve probably written all of these before.
And your reader has probably scrolled right past them.
Not because they’re wrong.
But because you stopped at the surface.
Let’s fix that.
3 Ways to Say the Same Thing, Differently
Let’s take a piece of classic advice:
“Be consistent.”
True. But invisible.
Here’s how to bring it back to life:
1. Show the cost of ignoring the advice
“Inconsistency didn’t just slow me down. It made me start from scratch every time.”
“I didn’t need better tools—I needed to stop disappearing.”
Now, it’s not a tip.
It’s a consequence.
2. Reframe it with a surprising analogy
“Writing is like brushing your teeth. If you skip a few days, it shows.”
“Your audience has the memory of a goldfish. Be the food pellet.”
The brain loves contrast and pattern breaks.
Analogies give familiar advice a fresh coat of paint.
3. Add a personal moment or shift
“I thought I was lazy. Turns out, I just didn’t respect my calendar.”
“Posting daily didn’t build discipline. It built trust—with myself.”
Now, you’re not teaching.
You’re inviting.
That’s the cheat code:
Don’t write around the cliché.
Start with it—and then write through it.
Ask yourself:
What does this really mean for me?
Where have I seen this play out?
What metaphor makes this hit harder?
Because the truth is—everyone’s saying the same things.
The difference is how you say it.
